Suresh Raina retires from International Cricket

Suresh Raina, one of the famous and productive white ballplayers of the last decade has officially announced his retirement from international cricket just minutes after Dhoni informed his fans on his social media account by updating “Consider me as Retired”. India’s 2011 World Cup Winner, Suresh Raina on following his favorite Captain’s footsteps, informed his fans of accompanying Dhoni in his journey to retirement. He shocked the cricket universe by his news to accompany Dhoni in retirement as the latter has not appeared in any competitive cricket for the last one year and was expected to do so but Raina was expected to give a shot at IPL.

Raina, the 33-year-old, made his international debut in international cricket as a teenager in 2005 and is one of the rarest among the individuals with centuries in 226 ODI’s, 18 Tests, and 78 T20 International scoring approximately 8000 runs internationally. He also commands five centuries and 36 half-centuries. Raina expressed his gratitude towards everyone from teammates to fans by thanking his former Captains Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, and MS Dhoni under whom he won the 2011 ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy 2013 and thanking his fans for their 13-year long support of his international career.

He made a comeback after being away since 2018 in the T20 Cricket in the South Africa Tour where he scored a century and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He also participated in the Nidahas Trophy and England Tour. Raina was not selected for the World Cup 2019 due to his knee surgery but was quite ready for his upcoming CPL Betting Tips  in March.
